Returning from a rotator cuff injury, Pedro Martinez left little doubt that he was ready to dominate again. Martinez worked eight innings against Kansas City, allowing one (a bloop single by Mike Sweeney in the fourth), striking out six and walking none in a 4-0 win.

He threw 94 pitches, 69 for strikes.
