Baseball Bats

Ted Williams as a golfer … somehow that image fails to come into focus.

But like many ex-ballplayers, he did give it a try, though the frustrations endured by all duffers took their unenviable toll.

According to the Boston Globe, WIlliams was spotted slogging through 42 holes in one day at Wollaston Golf Club in Milton, Mass. The anonymous source said that along the way Williams broke three – or was it four – clubs out of the maddening exasperation that only golf can inspire.

After one misfire on the green, Williams was said to have fired his putter so far in the air that a member of his foursome didn’t know which way to run to avoid taking it off the noggin.

If the greatest hitter who ever lived had trouble on the links, it offers some reassurance to us mere mortals.
