Dec. 27, 1962

Squeezing in a basketball game during the Garden’s Christmas week Ice Capades extravaganza, the Celtics topped the Warriors, 119-116, before 13,302.

Wilt Chamberlain scored 43 points and had 32 rebounds. But, as often happened against the Celtics, Chamberlain couldn’t hoist his teammates onto his shoulders.

Sam Jones scored 19 to lead the Celtics, with Tommy Heinsohn scoring 19 points in in just 26 minutes on the floor. Satch Sanders had 14 points.

John Havlicek’s assignment for the day was to hold Willie Naulls in check and he succeeded, holding him scoreless down the stretch. Naulls managed 11 points for the game.
