Bill Russell caused a scare in countless hearts by hitting the deck and losing consciousness for four minutes.

Battling San Francisco Warriors big man Willie Naulls, Russell landed on the hardwood hard enough to knock himself out. It is not known whether Celtics radio legend Johnny Most accused Naulls of unleashing the cheapest of cheap shots on the Boston center.

There were some muscle tussles to get Most’s blood pumping. In the third quarter Jim Loscutoff bolted from the Boston bench and onto the floor when Clyde Lovellette and Wilt Chamberlain began mixing it up.

Loscy was ejected.

Russell regained his bearings and was fine.

Boston won, 138-118.
