Ah, back to the days when the Red Sox and Braves came home to decide the mythical Boston City Championship. The Braves opened their final season in the Hub by falling to the Red Sox at Fenway Park, 12-7, after winning two days earlier at Braves Field.

Ted Williams had two home runs, as 8,112 fans took one of their last looks at him, at least for awhile. Three weeks later, Williams was called back into service as a Marine Corps fighter pilot.
