Anyone paying attention knew Celtics center Dave Cowens was a man who would follow only his own path through life. That's why no one seemed too stunned to learn that Cowens spent an evening just before the C's playoff series by driving a Boston cab.

A Boston Globe writer confirmed the rumor by flagging down Cowens near Boston Common and directing Cowens to take him to the Globe headquarters on Morrissey Blvd.

Cowens opened the 76ers series with 21 points and 15 rebounds in a 113-111 loss in Game 1 on April 17.
