As reported by Boston Globe writer Hy Hurwitz, “Hector 'Skinny' Brown and whirling Billy Werle throttled the Bronx Bombers, who started without four members of their regular cast – Yogi Berra, Mickey Mantle, Phil Rizzuto and Joe Collins.

“... It is possible the Red Sox have found a pitcher who can beat the Yankees.”

Well, they may have found a pitcher who can beat the Yankees when Berra, Mantle, Rizzuto and Collins aren't in the starting lineup.
