In the “The more things change ...” department, on this date in 1992 the Bruins welcomed in Brian Sutter as the team's new coach.

That came one day after former coach Rick Bowness was fired. Bowness had only served one year of the two-year contract he signed upon being made the head coach.

Five weeks earlier, Sutter was fired by the St. Louis Blues to end a five-year tenure there. The Bruins gave Sutter a four-year deal.

Apparently, after firing Bruce Cassidy earlier this week, the Bruins had no replacement in mind.
