The Celtics' reign as NBA champions ended at the Los Angeles Forum as the Lakers clinched the crown with a 106-93 win in Game 6.

Hobbled by a string of injuries, the Celtics made a playoff run that few expected, even those in uniform.

“We played hard. We found out we have absolutely no quitters on this team,” Larry Bird said, per the Boston Globe.

“We're still considered losers. The ultimate goal of the Celtics is to win a championship and we didn't do that.”
