The Celtics came into a Sunday afternoon game against the Lakers at the Garden having looked a little discombobulated for seven games, going 2-5.

Then John Havlicek returned, as did the Celtics’ sense of order. The Lakers certainly took notice in a 94-82 Celtifcs win before 14,989 fans..

They built a lead, then gave up the lead, then went down by 14 points, rallied to tie it early in the fourth quarter, then won going away.

The 2024 Celtics often follow that winding path, Maybe it’s something in the franchise’s DNA.

Havlicek returned to duty and looked as though he never left. He scored 14 points with four rebounds and four assists. The numbers don’t reflect the importance of having him back on the floor.

“We have a sense of security when John is out there,” Cowens said, per the Boston Globe. “We’re Linus and he’s our security blanket.”
