Rod Carew always seemed a quiet sort of fellow, but on this day, after being hit in the back with a pitch by Detroit’s Dave Roberts, he responded by throwing a punch at Roberts. It missed, and Carew was ejected.

“If it happens again, I’ll do the same thing,” Carew told the Associated Press. “He’s a control pitcher and he sure threw at me. I can’t accept that.”
