The Celtics signed their top pick in the NBA Draft, forward Sam Jones out of North Carolina.

Jones, a 6-4 forward, averaged 19.3 points per game in his senior season. NC coach Bones McKinney (and one-time Celtic) said Jones is “The best player in the South.”

Jones No. 24 is among the Celtics' retired numbers.
