The Red Sox turned a triple play against the Orioles, part of a 2-1 win at Fenway Park. With runners on first and second, Baltimore's Elrod Hendricks hit a line drive that was snared by first baseman Duane Josephson (typically a catcher), who tagged first and threw to Luis Aparicio covering second.

The beneficiary of the triple play was Marty Pattin, who posted his first Red Sox win.
