During the game Red Sox designated hitter Orlando Cepeda went 0 for 3 with a walk.

His teammates didn’t do much better. White Sox starter Eddie Fisher and reliever Terry Forster shut out Boston for a 1-0 win, limiting the Red Sox to three hits.

Cepeda connected after the game, at least once. A Chicago fan had spent the afternoon denigrating the Boston DH in Spanish. The Baby Bull responded by battering the heckler, according to teammates who looked on.

Red Sox starter Marty Pattin felt some pain, too – he went eight innings and stopped the White Sox on four hits, but saw his record slip to 1-6.
