The Boston Patriots opened their season last night at BU (old Braves, current Nickerson) Field. A meager crowd of 8,783 seeing the Buffalo Bills take a 7-6 win on a quarterback sneak by Al Dorow early in the fourth quarter.

The game’s only touchdown drive began with Bills linebacker Archie Matsos picked off a pass by Pats QB Babe Parilli. A pair of field goals by Gino Cappellitti, one in the first quarter and another at the outset of the fourth, looked like it may be enough for the Pats until Parilli’s pick.

A second-quarter interception toss by Parilli kept the Patriots from cashing in on a first-and-goal from the Bills 9.

New England’s current fear might be a replay or three of such sluggardly offense by the 2022 version of the Patriots.
