Feb. 9, 1953 The third-place Celtics topped the first-place New York Knickerbockers, 87-79, before a Boston Garden gathering of 6,273. Apparently, a crowd of 10,000 or more was expected but a snowstorm kept some folks off the roads. Bill Sharman scored 20 points and Ed Macauley had 19. Despite defensive pressure from Al McGuire, Bob Cousy scored 16 points.
