Jan. 1, 1988 Steve Crawford had a moderately long, moderately successful career as a reliever, seven seasons with the Red Sox, three with the Royals. But after finishing his time with Boston, and before throwing a pitch for Kansas City, Crawford had his greatest moment. As reported by the Boston Globe, on Dec. 30 Crawford helped firefighters by saving an elderly man as the Mill Pond Tennis Club in Hanover, Mass.
