April 4, 1948 Ted Kennedy of the Toronto Maple Leafs (who never drreamed of running for the United States Senate) scored at 5:52 of the third period to end the Bruins Stanley Cup playoff run. It took the Leafs just five games to eliminate the B’s, winning Game 5, 3-2. Kennedy, nicknamed “Teeder,” had six goals in the series, four in one Game 2.
