May 3, 1957 In a battle of Red Sox alumni, Walt Dropo hit a pinch-hit grand slam off Chuck Stobbs to spark the Chicago White Sox over the Washington Senators, 6-1. Dropo was a first baseman for the Red Sox from 1949-1952. He was the American League Rookie of the Year, All Star and led the American League with 144 RBIs in 1950 (his first full season).
