June 19, 1948 Clyde Shoun, making his first start at Braves Field after moving from the bullpen to the starting rotation, got the win as the Braves played their first home night game of the year and topped Cincinnatti, 5-4. Night games were still the exception around the major leagues, though the advantages of starting games after normal working hours were nudging baseball away from routinely playing on weekday afternoons.
