Jan. 7, 1973 Before Dick Stockton began doing a little bit of everything for CBS, FoxSports, TNT, and a bunch of freelance gigs, he was the 6-and-11 p.m. sportscaster on WBZ-TV Ch. 4 news.  He also called Celtics telecasts. Stockton left WBZ and Boston after being passed over for the Red Sox play-by-play job. When the old WHDH-TV was rejected by the FCC in seeking to extend his broadcasting license, the Red Sox signed up with WBZ.
